What a garage floor job actually involves
A proper garage coating in Bakersfield is a two to three day job, and most of day one has nothing to do with epoxy.
- Grinding. The slab gets mechanically profiled with a diamond grinder. This is the step that decides whether the coating is still there in five years.
- Repairs. Cracks, pits and old oil spots get cut out and filled. Oil that soaked in for fifteen years has to come out or the coating will not bond over it.
- Base coat. Applied and, if you chose flake, broadcast to refusal while wet.
- Scrape and top coat. The excess flake comes off and the clear coat goes on.

Hot tire pickup, and why it happens
You park a car in July, the tires are hot, and when you back out a week later the coating comes up with the tire. That is hot tire pickup, and it is almost always a bonding failure from bad preparation or a coating that was too thin.
